The wave of enforced disappearances in Balochistan continues unabated, with the latest cases involving a central committee member of the National Democratic Party (NDP) from Khuzdar and several civilians from Panjgur district.
According to a statement issued by the NDP, Ghani Baloch, a member of the party’s Central Organizing Committee, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces last night near Khuzdar while traveling from Quetta to Karachi. The party has condemned the incident and announced that further details regarding his abduction will be shared with the media soon.
Ghani Baloch hails from Nushki and is a well-known figure in Baloch student politics. He previously served as the Vice Chairman of the Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) and is currently pursuing an MPhil in the Brahui language.
In a separate incident, five individuals were reportedly detained by Pakistani forces in the Parom tehsil of Panjgur district. The detainees were identified as Israr, Jangiyan Rasheed, Faisal Murad, Qadir, and Ghulam Jan. According to local sources, four of them were later released, while Jangiyan remains in the custody of security forces, with his whereabouts unknown.
Human rights activists and Baloch nationalist groups have expressed concern over the rising number of such incidents. They argue that enforced disappearances have become a systematic tool of repression in Balochistan, where individuals are routinely picked up without warrants, held incommunicado, and in many cases subjected to torture or killed in custody.
