Twitter, a social networking company claiming freedom of expression, has suspended the account of Baloch national leader Dr Allah Nazar Baloch.
Even before this, many accounts of the Baloch leader have been closed.
It should be noted that Baloch leaders keep tweeting about Pakistan Army’s war crimes, military operations, enforced disappearances and other human rights violations in Balochistan. As a result, the Pakistan Army’s cyber team urges Twitter to close these accounts by presenting misleading arguments against national security and then suspending these accounts without informing the user in view of false, fabricated and misleading requests of social media campaign of Pakistan Army. It is a total abuse and restriction on freedom of expression.
Meanwhile, Twitter officials have blocked the accounts of many journalists, intellectuals, lawyers, doctors and human rights activists and social activists across Balochistan and Pakistan, at the behest of the Pakistan Army’s cyber team, for speaking out against human rights abuses.
Shari Baloch, editor of Sangar, strongly condemned the closure of the Twitter account of Baloch leader Dr Allah Nazar Baloch at the behest of Pakistan, calling it a restriction on freedom of expression. She announced a campaign in this regard.
She said blocking a user’s account for no apparent reason in the name of a terrorist state raises questions about the reputation of the social network company Twitter.
It should be noted that Sangar has also received emails from Twitter stating that the Pakistani government has complained that Sangar’s content is against Pakistani laws.
Shari Baloch said that such steps by Twitter are not acceptable, so those who believe in freedom of expression, freedom of the press should join us and be part of the campaign.
