Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) Spokesperson Major Gwahraam Baloch says in statement
The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) issues a stern warning to those engaged in deforestation in the Dasht region, particularly the timber mafia. If they do not cease their illegal activities, they will face severe consequences, including arrest, heavy fines, and financial losses imposed by the BLF.
The BLF has been closely monitoring the ongoing deforestation for some time, and all individuals involved—ranging from non-local contractors to influential backers—have been identified. We have repeatedly made it clear that the BLF will not tolerate the exploitation of Balochistan’s resources, the large-scale commercial harvesting of Pesh (Mazari palm), or the destruction of wildlife habitats. Those responsible must immediately stop their activities.
Public reports have highlighted widespread deforestation from Kunchati, Bisholi, Kohak, and Kuddan to Jan Muhammad Bazar in the plains. Contracts for tree felling have been secured by both local and non-local contractors. However, the forests of Balochistan are a national heritage, not the property of any individual or tribe. We will not allow a single branch of these forests to be cut for commercial gain. Those who view Balochistan as an abandoned land for their criminal enterprises should remember that institutions exist to defend Baloch national interests.
The BLF stands as a force for the Baloch people, committed to safeguarding Baloch national interests in line with public aspirations. We urge all conscientious individuals to raise their voices to protect Balochistan’s forests, wildlife, and environment, so that force does not become necessary to halt these crimes.
Climate change is a global challenge, with its effects increasingly visible in Balochistan through more frequent and severe floods. Deforestation will only worsen these conditions. Experts and environmentalists have noted a significant decline in tree cultivation across the region. The Pakistan Army is complicit in the destruction of Balochistan’s forests, serving as a key supporter of those involved in these criminal activities.
The Baloch people must take responsibility for their future, including the fight against climate change. Instead of large-scale deforestation, we need widespread tree planting. Local institutions and the people of Balochistan must rally to protect our environment and wildlife.
This is final warning to mafia to stop the deforestation immediately otherwise they will be responsible for their financial and life loss.
