The situation unfolding in Wadh is a tribal issue where the two parties are trying to attain additional influence over the Area and its people. The issue has a history the two parties or the families have had conflicts in the past for the same reasons.
Akhtar Mengal’s narrative has been that he is against the death squads and that he’s trying to wipe out these elements from Balochistan. However, his party members run death squads in certain areas like Qalath, Nemargh, and various other areas. E.g. qambar khan mengal and Mir mula bux Mohammad hasni in jahoo, Awaran. where they are involved in operations against Baloch freedom fighters.
If Akhtar Mengal is so conscious about the death squads operating in Balochistan, He should not only fight Shafiq Mengal. There are a hundred others. If he has to fight death squads then he needs to pick up arms against the patronage of these death squads which is the state of Pakistan and its establishment. Akhtar Mengal’s fight is for Self, tribal, and political influence and interest.
Akhtar Mengal is trying to gain support from the Baloch nation for his personnel, and tribal cause, furthering his area of influence to gain more seats in the upcoming elections. Already having a strong say in the so-called provincial government and national.
If Akhtar Mengal had been fighting for the Baloch nation, he wouldn’t have been voting for the extension of the army chief, his party would not be in coalition with PPP and PML N, these parties in the past have committed crimes against Baloch people During the tenure of PPP the state started the policy of kill and dump, missing people and target killings of Baloch political activist and leaders. E.x Ghulam Mohammad, Zakir Majid, and others. During the tenure of PML-N from 2013- to 2018 military operations in Balochistan displaced thousands of people, scores were killed and thousands went missing for the protection of the so-called CPEC. If Akhtar Mengal was a friend of the Baloch people he would have not been partnered with these parties.
