The spokesperson of the Baloch National Movement said in his statement that the attempted abduction of Abdul Hafeez Zehri by the agencies of the Pakistan army after his release from a Pakistani court has increased the threats to his life within the state of Pakistan. His family’s life would be difficult and painful without the intervention of international human rights organizations.
He said, on January 27, 2022, Pakistan took Abdul Hafeez Zehri to Pakistan six days after his arrest with the help of Dubai Police and Emirati authorities, forced him to disappear for three months, and then showed his arrest in a false case of arms recovery. He was sent to a jail in Karachi. On February 3, 2023, a Pakistani court acquitted and released him. Pakistani agency officials tried to abduct him again when his family was taking him home from prison. Shots were fired in which his family members and Abdul Hafeez were seriously injured.
The spokesperson said the Pakistani state and its powerful institutions have come against the Zehri family with all their might and the entire state machinery has been mobilized to destroy this family. Before this, Abdul Hafeez Zehri’s thirteen-year-old brother, Majeed Zehri, was killed and his body was dumped after being kept missing for six days. And then his father, Haji Ramzan, was also killed in broad daylight, while his cousin Rashid Hussain was also arrested from the United Arab Emirates and has been kept missing until today by Pakistan.
He said that human rights organizations should take extraordinary measures to help the family considering the “state vs Zehri family” aspect. It is not just the government machinery but the mighty army of Pakistan against this family that directly controls all institutions, including the state’s judiciary.
Human rights organizations and Baloch political activists should raise the question by presenting this case as a prominent example before the international community. “In a state, where all the civil rights of the Baloch are denied, what is the way left for the Baloch to protect their survival and lives?”
The spokesperson said the Baloch nation had been deprived of the right to live in occupied Balochistan. Here, any state authority can deal with the Baloch as they want. They are not accountable for it. Even in this grave human rights situation, international human rights organizations are sitting as spectators and the international community has closed its eyes. This is affecting the reputation of these institutions and the international community and the expectations of the Baloch nation from the international community are turning into disappointment.
He said the international community and the independent countries should fully support the freedom struggle of the Baloch nation because the genocide of the Baloch nation is increasing day by day. The Baloch people’s dead bodies are being dumped daily and need urgent humanitarian assistance.
